Limestone cladding supply in the Gulf region

The Gulf region with countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Bahrain have seen a dramatic growth in building, and specifically in the use of limestone on cladding applications. Not to mention the larger projects that have been developed in this region, we want to talk mostly about private residences that display amazing exterior cladding with the use of natural stones.

We take a look at this market and try to explain the Limestone cladding supply in the Gulf region, showing the most popular limestones used on cladding, giving examples of well-developed projects throughout the region.

Top limestones used on cladding

We begin with the Limra limestone, a Turkish limestone with a white to light beige color tone. This has been extensively used on cladding applications all over the gulf region, where price and availability have been key factors.

The Moleanos limestone from Portugal has been gaining some market in countries like the UAE, Kuwait or even Saudi Arabia. While the fine grain Moleanos is used on exterior cladding, the medium grain Moleanos has been a popular choice for interior and exterior flooring.

The Spanish limestone Capri is an authority in terms of supply to Gulf countries. Due to large availability and good market penetration, the Capri limestone has been widely used on diverse cladding projects in countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain or the UAE.

Finally, the limestone that has seen the most dramatic increase in popularity and demand in the past years in the Gulf area: the Moca Cream limestone. This Portuguese beige limestone presents a beautiful parallel vein that makes wonderful cladding projects. Very popular in Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and with growing demand in Saudi Arabia.
